Chris Barnes, arguably the most recognized man in professional bowling, hit it big on the Today show with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on August 19, 2011.
Gifford and Kotb went bowling at BowlMor Lanes Times Square, in a friendly competition with their mothers. Although the ladies took the lanes in style with new bowling shirts and shoes, they had a hard time keeping the ball out of the gutter.
Then Columbia 300’s Chris Barnes stepped in. With a few tips and a little direction, Barnes had the ladies on track and knocking down pins in no time.
” Kathie Lee and Hoda are both dynamic personalities that seem to really enjoy each others’ company,” said Barnes. “Their mothers were also on the show and they were a pleasure to be with as well. I was happy to be able to help them.”
In the end, the ladies had a great time and appreciated Barnes’ input.
“We were bowled over by Chris, with pins to spare,” said Kotb.
While the outcome of the competition wasn’t announced, Gifford was sure to point out her friend Kotb’s frequent fouls.
In appreciation for his help, Barnes was presented with a pair of bowling pins, each printed with an image of the ladies’ faces.
