Sixteen weeks into the 2008-2009 PBA season, Columbia 300 bowler Chris Barnes appeared in his fifth television show March 1 during the Etonic Marathon Open in Indianapolis.
Barnes, who is in his 11th season on the PBA Tour, has qualified for an average of one television show for every 3.71 tournaments he has bowled in during his career; second only to Earl Anthony, category, who was just voted the best bowler in the history of the tour.
Recently Chris has made 20 shows in his last 58 events during the last three seasons, which is about one show for every 2.90 tournaments bowled.
And he has done it all as a member of Columbia 300’s Team Columbia Pro Staff.
“I am satisfied with where my game is right now, but overall I would rate it a B this season, I’ve bowled great for the most part of the last several years but this year I wouldn’t go higher then a B,” Barnes said.
As with most athletes, the pro bowler feels there is room for improvement.
“My overall level of very good shots can improve,” he said. “I plan on refining my start to improve that and I’m looking forward to the rest of this season including the U.S. Open.”
Columbia 300 Brand Manager Chad Murphy said the company is pleased with Barnes’ performance.
“Chris is again showing that he is — one of, if not — the best bowler in the world. He’s demonstrating an amazing ability to make the Sunday telecast on a regular basis,” Murphy said. “He’s doing such a wonderful job of showcasing our products on a consistent basis and I couldn’t be happier about having him as the face of our brand. The Columbia 300 brand has always had an All-American family, team oriented feel and Chris has picked up as the face of our brand in the footsteps of legends like Dave Husted and Don Johnson.”
With only four stops left on this year’s tour you should check out the schedule and tune in; there is a better then average chance you will see Barnes and his Columbia 300 gear front and center.
