Chris Barnes wins Back to Back Titles

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Columbia 300 staff member Chris Barnes won his second tour title of the season March 22 at the Go RVing Match Play Championship.
This win comes two weeks after Barnes’ first title win of the season at the Don Johnson Buckeye State Eliminator PBA Tour, a title he won in 2008 as well.
“Man, what an amazing couple weeks,” said Chris Barnes, who now has a second consecutive Player of the Tear Award in sight. “I made a couple changes with my game and Columbia 300 added an extra ball with the Power Swing to the arsenal and things have just fallen into place.”
The reigning PBA Tour Player of the Year, from Double Oaks, Texas, threw a 722 three game set, which was enough to knock off 45 time titlist Walter Ray Williams, sealing his 12th title win.
Barnes fell behind early but took the lead early in the second game and never looked back in this first time ever three game total pin fall match on live television.
Since the introduction of the Power Swing, Barnes has made six of nine shows using his arsenal of Columbia 300 products to its greatest advantage.
“What can you say about Chris right now; four shows in a row speaks for itself and I’m excited he’s finishing the year on such a high point,” Columbia 300 Brand Manager Chad Murphy said. “Chris has been a great competitor for along time and he continues to have success with our products and it continues to be a lot of fun to watch.”
With this win, Barnes takes home $25,000 and is now ranked third in the point system race for Player of the Year for the 2008-2009 season.
