If you love bowling, the fun doesn’t have to end when you leave the lanes. Columbia 300’s efforts in social media via Facebook and YouTube have made it possible for you to enjoy your sport even when you’re not in the bowling center.
With the recent success of the Columbia 300 Pure Swing on the PBA Tour, everyone is hot to get their hands on new Columbia 300 equipment, and Facebook is making it easier.
In January, fans of Columbia 300 on Facebook had the opportunity to win a new Pure Swing by simply posting a message on the forum, or by becoming a fan of the Pure Swing’s page. Ken O’Neal of Crown Point, Ind., was the lucky winner. In February, Brian Egan of Stoughton, Mass., won a Total Bedlam by correctly guessing the winner of the Super Bowl and the number of points that would be scored. In addition, any time the winner of the current week’s PBA tournament is using a Pure Swing, one lucky fan from Facebook will win one as well.
On their YouTube channel, Columbia 300 has given fans of the brand an opportunity to get to know the products and its players better. The video introducing bowlers to the Pure Swing had a record number of views for a ball video, and Brand Manager Chad Murphy wanted to take their videos a step further.
“When we saw the great response to the Pure Swing video, we knew we had to do more,” said Murphy. “Our fans want to see more of our products and meet our bowlers.”
The latest group of videos to go up on the Columbia 300 YouTube channel introduces several of their staff players to the world. In particular, a commercial highlighting Chris Barnes’ work ethic shows how he’s attained his level of success.
“Barnes has an amazing record of making television shows,” explained Murphy. “He’s got great game, and he got there by working hard and studying his sport intensely. His intensity and effort is what makes him so successful on tour.”
In addition, interviews with Tom Smallwood, Mike Scroggins and Chris Barnes go in-depth on their recent successes on tour, and the role their equipment played in their success.
“These guys are just great people, and they have so much to share with bowlers,” said Murphy. “We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to get to know them better and get to know how they perform at the level they do.”
The PBA Tour isn’t over yet, and Columbia 300 equipment is just as hot as ever. One thing that Murphy is sure of is that bowlers will continue to want to learn as much as they can about their sport, its equipment, and its professionals.
“As long as bowlers want to learn more about us, the videos, interviews, and prize giveaways will continue,” said Murphy.
