COLUMBIA 300 DOMINATES USBC QUEENS
Lynda Barnes Wins Second Queens Crown
HOPKINSVILLE, Kent. - What a night for Columbia 300 on ESPN2, Tuesday, April 29! Three bowlers who have ties to the brand competed with products from Columbia 300’s ‘New Era’ and all of the bowlers were undefeated against everyone except each other.
Lynda Barnes
Columbia 300 staff player, Lynda Barnes, certainly bowled the world over using a Resurgence on her way to winning the 2008 USBC Queens title with three strikes in the tenth frame over fellow Columbia 300 staffer, Amy Stolz, who was using the same product, 215-195. This is Barnes’ second Queens win (1998 and 2008). Carol Gionatti, a resident of Perth, Australia, also used a Columbia 300 Momentum on her way to a 4th place finish.
“Watching the show was incredible! Lynda, Carol and Amy have been friends for a long time and seeing them competing under the Columbia 300 umbrella and having success with the balls was just awesome,” said Chad Murphy, Columbia 300 brand manager.
“Lynda wining her first title as a member of our pro staff was obviously the kicker. She’s a phenomenal player and she proved that she’s certainly a force to be reckoned with in women’s bowling. She always puts on a good show for the fans and this time was no exception.”
Barnes, wife of Columbia 300 staff player and 2008 PBA Player of the Year Chris Barnes, entered the championship round as the top seed. She maintained her lead for seven consecutive matches without a loss and then rebounded from a spilt in the sixth frame and struck five out of the next six shots to seal the deal. Chris was there to see her take the title - albeit from the ESPN 2 broadcast booth.
“Knowing the boys were rooting for me at home, Chris in the booth and Columbia 300 in my hands was the right combination for success,” she shared.
“With the tough sport bowling pattern the Resurgence was the perfect match for the lane. It cut through the oil and allowed me to continue to strike while playing different angles during the week.”
The Barnes family, including twin boys Ryan and Troy, hail from Double Oak, Texas. Lynda took home $30,000 for the win.
