Columbia 300 Sponsors Mini Eliminator Amateur Only Classic at Texas Station

February 18, 2008

HOPKINSVILLE, Kent. – Columbia 300 sponsored the 2008 Mini Eliminator Amateur Only Classic held at Texas Station in early February. As part of its sponsorship, the brand hosted product demos for four days and offered free game analysis using Ebonite DigiTrax™ for all entrants. Bowlers competing in the Columbia 300 Shootout also took home a new Columbia 300 ball with their entry fee.

Premier international bowler Jason Belmonte took home the 2008 Columbia 300 Mini Eliminator Amateur Only Classic title and $25,000 for throwing a 255 in the Shootout Round. A 24-year-old resident of Orange, Australia, Belmonte easily made his way through the early rounds in the finals bowling 245, 237 and 238. Luck was on his side as Belmonte caught a couple of close breaks and found himself facing off against Pete Thomas, 46 and over champion, and Sol Cericos, 210 and under champion, in the finals. Throwing six consecutive strikes to start the match, his victory was sealed with a 50+ pins lead.

Matt McNeil from Chanhassen, Minnesota, won the Columbia 300 Shootout on Friday using the Momentum and took home $4,000. Tom Smallwood of Flushing, Michigan, won the only sweeper of the event and pocketed a cool $5,000.

Columbia 300 is a proud sponsor of the Mini-Eliminator. Congratulations Jason, Matt and Tom!
