COLUMBIA 300’S GUERRERO FINDS EUROPEAN SUCCESS

Columbia 300 staff member Clara Guerrero was the big winner at the 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge at Le Plaza Bowling in Saint Maximin, France.
Guerrero, the No. 3 seed from Colombia, defeated Syafiq Ridhwan of Malaysia and top seeded Carolyn Dorin-Ballard for the top prize of 15.000 Euro (US $20,949).
In the stepladder finals, Guerrero used the Columbia 300 Outburst as her ball of choice. Her first match was against Ridhwan, who she defeated 235-224 to set up a showdown with Dorin-Ballard, of Keller, Texas.
Dorin-Ballard, a four-time Team USA member, held the early lead in the title match after Guerrero left an early 7-10 split. But Dorin-Ballard didn’t throw a double the entire match.
Guerrero rebounded from the 7-10 to roll six out of seven strikes in frames three through nine to take control of the match. Both ladies received eight bonus pins of handicap to give Guerrero the 229-204 decision. Dorin-Ballard earned 7.500 Euro (US $10,4745) for second place and Ridhwan received 5.000 Euro (US $6,983) for third.
Guerrero is the second woman to win the title in the eight-year history of the Brunswick Euro Challenge. It was also the fourth event of the new World Bowling Tour organized by the World Tenpin Bowling Association.
Players who compete in the selected international events and finish among the top three men and top three women in the final points standings will be eligible to compete in the World Bowling Tour Finals, a special televised event during the 2011 PBA World Series of Bowling in Las Vegas.
