Bowlers tend to be pretty superstitious with their game, whether it’s wearing the right shirt or socks, or going through the right sequence of events in their pre-shot routine. But if good things come in threes, then Columbia 300’s new Omen ball has the core shape, core material, and cover combination to bring much success to bowlers.
The Omen’s new core shape is the symmetric Capsule, a low RG core that brings a really strong roll in the mid-lane and a high differential that brings overall hook and continuation down-lane, without the snap of the Columbia 300 Encounter.
Omen’s Capsule core shape isn’t the only exciting thing about this new ball. The core is created from Magnetite, which adheres to the outer core and absorbs impact better for less deflection through the pins. The Omen is the first ball in Columbia 300’s line to use Magnetite, a material which has a hardness that is easier on Pro Shops’ drill bits over time.
“Both the core shape and material are designed to be more user-friendly,” said Bugsy Kelly, Columbia 300 Brand Manager. “We weren’t looking to reinvent the wheel; we just wanted to keep it simple with a really great-rolling and good-looking product that would fit well within the Columbia 300 arsenal.”
The third and final element is the new coverstock used on the Omen, the Bend It. Like the name says, this ball will hook, and it doesn’t take much to get this ball going. The traction in the cover is enhanced by its four-stage finishing process, using a double-hit of 500 then 4000 grit Abralon® pads. The 500 grit adds texture under the 4000 grit, which helps get the ball going without sacrificing continuous motion. While there is pearl added to the cover, it does not result in excessive length.
It’s three-way combination of new core; core material and cover in the Omen create a sign that means good news for bowlers, and bad news for pins.
Omen will be available in 12-16 lbs. through Columbia 300 pro shop partners beginning December 15, 2011. Visit columbia300.com, or follow Columbia 300 on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for more information.
