Columbia 300 is proud to announce the addition of Professional Bowlers Association Exempt player Dan MacLelland to its National Tour staff.
MacLelland, a Canada native who now lives in Saginaw, Mich., will bowl exclusively with Columbia 300 equipment, apparel and accessories.
“It is truly an honor to be named to the National Tour staff,” said the 26-year-old righthander. “It was always my dream growing up to be where I am today. But I would have never imagined all that has happen to me.”
MacLelland is coming off a Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour season in which he emerged as a legitimate threat to breakthrough on Tour. During the 2010-11 Tour campaign, he qualified for the TV finals four times, with a high finish of second at the World Series of Bowling Shark Championship.
His $61,090 ranked MacLelland 9th on the PBA earnings list, and his 219.19 scoring average ranked 7th overall. He posted top 10 finishes in both the $1 million Tournament of Champions, and the 68th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open, two of the most prestigious events on the PBA Tour.
MacLelland completed a stellar collegiate career before joining the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour. Bowling for Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.), he was named to the collegiate All-American Team three times and won Collegiate Bowler of the Year twice (2008 and 2009). MacLelland was named MVP of the Intercollegiate Team Championships three times (2007, 2008 and 2009), and led his Cardinal team to IBC titles in 2006 and 2007. His first professional title came in June, 2010, with a PBA Regional win at Sterling Heights, Mich.
“I’ve thrown Columbia 300 for the last few years, and it’s helped my game out a lot,” said MacLelland. “One of the main reasons I like throwing Columbia 300 equipment is that I see more of the midlane than I ever saw before, which has made a big difference in my performance.”
MacLelland is the first men’s addition to the Columbia 300 Staff, joining PBA Triple Crown Winner Chris Barnes on the PBA Tour Staff. Also on the Columbia 300 National Staff are Lynda Barnes, Wendy Macpherson and Clara Guerrero.
“To be on the same staff with Chris, Linda, Clara and Wendy is a dream come true,” said MacLelland. “The staff and bosses at Columbia 300 are just really great people. Easy to get along with and fun to be around.”
MacLelland is excited about the new line of Columbia 300 bowling equipment. The Ransom Demand and the Eruption are two new additions to Columbia 300’s line of bowling balls.
“I have had the chance to throw the new equipment, and all I can say is Wow!” he said. “The Ransom Demand is basically a Full Swing, but on steroids. It has the continuation that we wished the Full Swing had.
“And the Eruption is one type of reaction that we haven’t seen from Columbia 300 in a long time. It is really clean through the front part of the lane and has tremendous angle in the backed. I cannot wait for the new season to begin.”
Along with rolling the new offerings from Columbia 300, MacLelland has already set goals for the 2011-12 season.
“My plans for the season are to make two or three shows, and definitely win one this year,” he said. “As for future goals, they’re always the same. I want to stay healthy and keep bowling well. I’m going overseas before the World Series and I’d like to do well as a warm up.”
