Stuart Williams of England and Team USA’s Tommy Jones, United States, teamed in Squad 16 to overtake the lead in the Doubles competition with 2802 pinfall total and an average of 233.50.
Williams, England’s first PBA champion, who leads qualifying with 1544 and an average of 257.33, rolled a 1346 series and Jones, a 13-time PBA champion, led Squad 16 with 1456 (242 average) en route to move into third place in the overall qualifying standings. Jones started his set with four consecutive 250s - 259, 257, 259 and 256.
As both players were already above the cut line, Tanner Spacey, United States, remained in 52nd and last place to advance to the finals with 1308 or an average of 218.
Qualifying continues on Saturday with Squads 17 at 8 p.m. and concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad scheduled for 11.30 p.m. CEST. Bowlingdigital.com will provide free Live Streaming of the event.
