ABOUT DON CARTER
Considered the sport's first superstar, Carter passed away in January of 2012 at the age 85. Seven-time PBA champion, including the 1960 National Championship. He won the USBC Masters and five World Invitational events. Also won the BPAA All-Star four times. He served as PBA President for four years and was a member of the PBA's Executive Board for 16 years. He was the PBA's member of the Year in 1960. While he had many PBA accomplishments he rose to national attention in bowling's golden era of team competition most notably as a member of the famed Budweiser team which once held the team series record of 3,858. At the vanguard of celebrity endorsement, he capitalized on his fame during televised bowling's most popular period to become the first athlete of any kind to earn $1,000,000 in a single endorsement deal, for Ebonite International.
