SPEED

Columbia 300 Speed Review w/ Keven Williams

Overview

Columbia 300 brings you the new Speed. We started with the successful Power Torq and set out to create a solid asymmetric motion, perfect for a first ball out of the bag or when symmetric balls like the Power Torq are too clean. The strength of the Speed comes from the all-new cover and core combination. The new Formula 1 cover uses chemistry similar to the popular ERT formulation, but our chemists used a new additive that promotes stronger adhesion throughout the entire lane. We combined the Formula 1 cover with the new super aggressive Shifter core to ensure significantly more overall hook than the Power Torq.

Speed

One of the strongest balls I threw in the Columbia300 line! Drilled pin up and watched this ball kill the pins!! Great continuation. If you need a heavy oil ball grab this one for sure!

Favorite Asymmetric

The way this ball picks up in the mid lane but doesn’t burn up still amazes me. The continuous ball motion that I see makes this ball so versatile on many different conditions for myself. It is a bigger hybrid and intended for oil, but I am also able to get left with it when I start to notice the carry down, and slow roll without worrying about the Speed losing its energy on me. I’m also able to use this ball on shorter oil conditions as it blends the pattern out. This will be a favorite in my bags for a long time.

Hardest working in my bag

My brother had gotten one of these at the end of the last winter season, and he made it look fantastic. I had drilled mine at the end of the summer season to be the heavy hitter, and it’s been thrown almost exclusively since I drilled it. It has even given me my first 800 of the season with an 806 series, (279-290-237). I started throwing the Brands of Brunswick recently over the summer, and I’m very happy with what I’m seeing. I am very hopeful to see more from this ball, maybe a like a Top Speed or something.

Crack in ball after only 18 months

I bought this ball and absolutely loved it until it showed a good size crack in it after I bought it about 18 months ago. I was told that the manufacturer would only warranty it for 12 months. It seems crazy that I would have to replace my ball every 18 months. The ball obviously has a defect and I cannot believe that the manufacturer will not warranty the ball from defects such as a crack. I take very good care of my equipment.
